The Key Laboratory of Coastal Urban Resilient Infrastructure, Ministry of Education was approved by the Ministry of Education in December 2019, led by Professor Chen Xiangsheng, an academician of the CAE Member, and formally passed the acceptance in June 2022. The laboratory is based on the Underground Polis Academy of Shenzhen University, Institute of Urban Smart Transportation and Safty Maintenance, Shenzhen Geoscience and Green Energy Research Institute, Shenzhen Civil Engineering Durability Key Laboratory, Sino-Australia Joint Research Center in BIM and Smart Construction, and is established in conjunction with relevant research teams in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. At present, there are 99 fixed research personnel, including 33 professors, 18 associate professors, 97 with doctoral degrees, and 26 auxiliary and administrative personnel.

Under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiangsheng and under the guidance of Academician Xie Lili, the director of the Academic Committee, the laboratory carried out systematic and in-depth research around the field of coastal urban resilient infrastructure, and won 8 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards and first prizes, 2 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards and second prizes, and 2 international awards. The laboratory presided over 113 vertical and horizontal scientific research projects in total. The scientific research achievements of the laboratory have received praise from peers both domestically and internationally. Within the construction period of 2 years, the laboratory has published over 100 important academic papers and 8 academic works in renowned domestic and international journals, gradually establishing its influence in related research fields.
